Mobile RF visibility

See what your phone can sense.
Expand into wideband receive-only surveys.

BandSight separates honest phone capability checks from optional RTL-SDR hardware. It records evidence locally, explains every limitation, and never transmits, jams, deauthenticates, captures credentials, or attempts to defeat encryption.

Mode 01

Phone Scan

A normal phone is not a general-purpose spectrum analyzer. BandSight tests only the interfaces the operating system and browser actually expose, and labels unavailable functions instead of fabricating results.

Permission-based tools

Use available sensors

Select a Bluetooth LE device

The browser opens its own chooser. BandSight cannot silently enumerate every nearby device from a PWA.

Read an NFC tag

On supported Android browsers, hold an NDEF tag near the phone. Payload contents are not stored; only tag metadata is logged.

Add approximate location

Location is opt-in and rounded before storage. It can help distinguish observations made at different authorized sites.

Mode 02

SDR Suite

Add a receive-only RTL-SDR dongle through USB-C OTG. BandSight checks the USB device, prepares a scoped survey, and can launch a compatible browser SDR engine for live spectrum and audio.

Supported starter hardware

Nooelec NESDR SMArt v5 Bundle

RTL2832U + R820T2/R860 receiver with magnetic base and three antenna elements.

A USB-C OTG data adapter or powered hub may be required and is not included in the bundle. HF reception needs an appropriate antenna and may require a different receiver workflow.

  1. 1

Connect the RTL-SDR to a USB-C OTG data adapter or powered hub.

  2. 2

Use a Chromium-based browser over HTTPS and grant access only to the Realtek RTL2832U device.

  3. 3

Run the hardware check, choose a survey preset, then launch the live receiver.

BandSight safety boundary

Receive only. Do not transmit, jam, replay controls, defeat encryption, capture credentials, or retain private communications. Use only on your own equipment, public broadcasts, or within written authorization and applicable law.

Mode 03

Field report

Observations remain in this browser until exported or deleted. BandSight avoids storing NFC payloads, Bluetooth traffic, audio, credentials, or decoded private message content.
